The organizing committee announced the launch of Qatar National Day activities for this year, which will be held at various locations across the country in a new form and style.
The celebrations, which will be held under the slogan “Ancestral Prairies: A Matter of Trust”, will reflect the importance and value of this great national occasion and live up to the expectations of the people of the country, the committee said in a statement. .
These events coincide with Qatar’s hosting of the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup and the global spotlight on the country as the countdown to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar continues.
Activities will be spread across various venues including Al Wakra Old Souk, Aspire Park, Qatar Foundation (QF) and Al Ramii Sports Club. In addition, the events will be broadcast live on large screens in the same locations, allowing more people to follow them up close. In addition, video clips and documentaries produced for Qatar’s National Day will also be shown, in addition to the distribution of Qatari flags among spectators and participants.
The activities of the old Al Wakra souk include various games and competitions, with an emphasis on heritage games. These will be held from December 14 to 18 on the beach of the souk, allowing children to participate in various traditional group games.
There will be another event focused on taking photographs inspired by Qatari heritage as well as an exhibition of old photographic equipment.
In addition, events will include an exhibit on local marine heritage, in addition to an interactive show on modern sailing ships, a quiz competition, heritage games, an exhibition of formative arts and painting activities, as well as ‘a number of theatrical performances on related themes. Activities will cover all age groups.
The education sector will have a considerable participation in the National Day celebrations with a few schools of boys and girls qualifying for the finals of competitions related to the local environment. The closing ceremony will take place on December 16.
Activities in this sector also include a poetry recital competition focused on the spirit of patriotism with the final to be held on December 17 at the Qatar Foundation.
Other activities include shooting competitions and traditional Qatari dance performances which will be held December 14-18 at Aspire Park and Al Wakra and December 12-14 at the Qatar Foundation.
Another choral singing event will take place with the participation of schoolchildren from December 14-18 at Aspire Park and Al Wakra, and December 13 and 17 at QF.
Aspire Park will see a variety of activities from December 14-18, giving visitors the opportunity to participate in various interactive events focused on Qatari heritage, traditions and lifestyles, and enjoy Arabic coffee as well as local solo music. . Other activities include camel rides, live painting activities focusing on various components of the local environment.
Civil defense will be present at the “arena of the challenge” site, where children will participate in an active competition and the winners will receive prizes. Participation in this competition will be open to children aged 6 to 12. In addition, there will be other activities focused on security awareness.
Al Ramii Sports Club will also offer a number of archery activities in Aspire, while traditional Qatari dance performances will be presented with the participation of various entities.
National Day activities will be held at the D’reesha Performing Arts Festival which will be held at the Qatar Foundation from today to December 17, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., with various shows and theatrical performances.
The National Day Falcon competitions of Qatari company Al Gannas will be part of the celebration, in addition to various other sporting championships such as the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani Cup for horses hosted by Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, the national holiday Indoor Padel Championship and National Day Endurance Cup.
