Camp Kawartha is planning an adventure day on June 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the main camp located at 1010 Birchview Rd. in Douro-Dummer. You can just come for the afternoon activities, or you can choose to do the activities then stay for dinner, a campfire and the evening program. Everyone is invited to register. All proceeds will support Camp Kawartha programs.
Check-in time for the event is 1:30 p.m. followed by an orientation session at 2 p.m. Then choose the activities you want to do. Climb the climbing wall and ring the bell, try your hand at the archery range, walk the tightrope on the high ropes course or take a motorized paddle in the North Canoe. These and other activities will be available.
The optional dinner will be prepared by the camp kitchen staff. It will be a healthy meal that everyone will enjoy and will include special desserts. After the meal, there will be a campfire with theatre, music, songs and stories in the Campitheatre.
The cost for afternoon activities is $50 per person or $125 for a family of four. The cost of the afternoon, dinner and evening activities is $90 per person or $195 for a family of four.
If you’ve had a tough year and want to add some fun to your life, consider coming out. You will have an exciting day and at the same time help support Camp Kawartha.

Birds and flowers
The Peterborough Field Naturalists (PFN) are hosting a bird and flower viewing outing on Saturday June 4th from 8am to 11am in the Cavan area. Lynn Smith will lead the hike along a rail trail and mountain bike trails on the Oak Ridges Moraine.
Lynn is well versed in iNaturalist, eBird and Seek and will be able to help attendees with these phone apps. There should be plenty of birdsong to aid bird sightings.
Bring binoculars and dress for the day’s weather. Accessibility is easy to moderate with some hills. The outing will be limited to 12 participants.

Theatrical bus trip
Activity Haven has planned a bus trip to see Dean Regan’s theatrical performance of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline at the Capital Theater in Port Hope on Wednesday June 22nd. Order your tickets now, they will go very quickly. The bus leaves Activity Haven at 12:45 PM to arrive in time for the 2 PM show.
The cost is $55 for members and $60 for non-members. You must present proof of vaccination and masks are compulsory. To reserve your spot, call the Activity Haven office at 705-876-1670.
Sage and Sunshine is offering four weeks of summer camp this year: July 11-15, August 1-5, August 15-19, and August 22-26. The camp is aimed at children from 4 to 10 years old and takes place from Monday to Friday. The camp program offers medicine wheel teachings for children, as well as Anishinaabe language and culture.
