Maple Ridge goes medieval on Saturday

The event will recreate competitions and events from the Middle Ages

There will be a medieval event in Maple Ridge this Saturday.

The event will be held at the Albion Exhibition Center from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the day will feature sword fights, an archery competition, a throwing weapons tournament and more.

The event is hosted by the Principality of Tir Righ, which is a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism – an international non-profit organization that recreates the Middle Ages in its hobbies, clothing and crafts. The event is called the Crown of November Tir Righ.

The Crown Tournament features melee combat. Weapons thrown will see competitors show off their skill with knives, axes and spears, and there will be target archery.

There will be a COVID screening and full proof of vaccination required to attend.
