Note: Events may be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Each week, The Lima News publishes a calendar of events of local interest. Events must be submitted by noon Monday each week to The Lima News.


Allen County: The Allen County Archers hold 3D shoots the first Saturday and Sunday of every month through September. It is open to all equipment. They also hold traditional 3D shoots on the fourth Saturday of the month year-round, weather permitting. They are open to all archery equipment. Archers will hold a “shooting stump” for traditional bows only on the fourth Saturday of each month weather permitting. Delphi: The 12th Annual Nathan Miller Memorial Tournament will be held June 3, 4 and 5 at Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team format for boys aged 11-12 (age limit is March 1). The tournament will be a pool game with a three game guarantee. Players must be from the same school district. Rewards will be given out. The cost is $200 with a non-refundable $50 entry fee. PANDORA-GILBOA: Community Recreation is hosting a Casino Night and ATV Raffle Fundraiser to benefit the Pandora-Gilboa Youth Summer Baseball and Softball Program on March 19 at the Bluffton Center with doors opening at 6 p.m. In addition to an ATV raffle, there will be other raffles. At the end of the event, a draw will be held for thousands of dollars in prizes. Tickets are $60 for this all-inclusive evening and are available at Ted’s Market in Pandora, Kibbee’s Carry Out in Bluffton or Ottawa Car-e-it in Ottawa. Delphi: The ninth annual Wildcat Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade Girls’ Team Tournament will be held Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 at Jefferson Schools. There will be separate divisions for each grade level. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. The registration fee for this event is $150. Delphi: The 17th Annual Wildcat Tournament for third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys’ teams will be held Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13 at Jefferson Schools. There will be separate divisions for each grade level. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. The registration fee for this event is $150. Elida: The District 8 All-Star High School games will be held March 21-22 at Elida Fieldhouse. The DI-II-III girls match is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. on March 21, with the D-IV contest following. The boys’ Division I-II-III game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start on March 22 with the D-IV game to follow.

Township of Bath: A Fifth and Sixth Year Boys Tournament will take place on March 26 and 27 at Bath Secondary School. School teams only. The cost is $150 per team with a three game guarantee. Lima: The Lima High School Athletics Department will hold its annual reverse raffle on March 26 at American Legion Post 96, 711 S. Shore Drive. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m. The first raffle ticket will be drawn at 6:30 p.m. This year, the prize for the reverse raffle is $5,000. There will also be a Live Auction, Spartan Auction and other games of chance. Tickets are $100. The prize includes admission and food for two people and entry to the reverse raffle. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. Tickets are available at the Lima Senior Athletic Office during class hours. Checks should be made payable to Lima Senior Athletics. Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., has league and doubles openings. Open doubles start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Leagues of corn holes form. Vanwert: Paul Keels, the detailed voice of Ohio State football and men’s basketball on the Buckeyes Radio Network for the past 24 years, will speak at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10.

Tickets, which cost between $19 and $29, are on sale.


Lima: Pickleball is played at the Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA hosts pickleball games open from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (by appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for non-members or $20 per month for non-members (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net. Call 419-223-6045 for more information.


Columbus Grove: The 44th annual BBO road race will take place on March 12. The race will start at 2 p.m. in the city center and will be four miles long through the city and into the country and back, all on paved roads. Registration on race day will begin at noon and will take place in the high school gymnasium. T-shirts will be available for those who pre-register for the race. Registration is $25 with a shirt and $15 if no shirt is desired. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women. Age group awards will be given out as well as door prizes on race day.

Lima: The 43rd Annual Spring Fling 5K will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 at Ottawa Metro Park located on State Route 81 east of Lima. The cost is $10 with a shirt available for $10. Lima: WAR Wrestling Presents Green or Gold Event on Saturday, March 19 at Empowered Sports Center, 1730 N. Union St. (formerly Northland Bowling Center) on Saturday, March 19. Tickets are $18 for VIP and $12 for general admission (four for $40 general admission) and can be purchased at the door. Lima: The Lima Family YMCA will be hosting classes for kids (in addition to basketball leagues) including Shoot & Scoop (basketball skills for ages 3-5 on Friday nights), youth karate, gymnastics, the Lego league and swimming lessons. Classes for adults include Karate, swimming lessons, water aerobics, aquatic arthritis, chair exercise classes, yoga (chair and regular), HIIT, BodyPump, Yoga Pilates Flow, Core workout CX, Combat, Zumba, Cardio and Tone and cycling classes. Members get free land fitness classes and a discount on other classes. Non-members are welcome to join classes for a per-class payment or session fee.
