KUWAIT: The President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, said the local shooting season will open on November 4 with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Championship in pistol, rifle, trap, skeet and Olympic archery for both sexes. Otaibi said people with special needs will have a place in this tournament, which will see shooters from the club, the national guard, the military and police sports federation. He said GCC shooters are welcome in this tournament.

Otaibi told a press conference yesterday that the tournament has been delayed until November to give shooters time to train and prepare after a long period of absence due to the coronavirus pandemic . He said the Kuwait Shooting Federation appreciates the sponsorship of the tournament by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince as it reflects his support and interest in shooting in Kuwait. The sport continues to achieve exploits around the world, the most recent of which is Olympian Abdullah Al-Rashidi’s second in the ISSF President’s Cup held in Cyprus.

Meanwhile, Arab and Kuwaiti Shooting Federation Secretary General Obaid Manahi Al-Osaimi said the junior preliminaries for this tournament will take place at the Shooting Sport Club branch in Jahra. Osaimi said this tournament will see stiff competition due to the presence of top shooters from Kuwait and the Gulf. He said the tournament prizes were worth it because of its importance. Otaibi and Osaimi both thanked political leaders and the Public Sports Authority for their support in shooting.
