The Riverbend area has an exciting new meeting place for hunting and fishing enthusiasts to share stories, shop for necessities and gear, and now even practice their skills. Bluff City Outdoors, a staple of the Alton community and conveniently located along the Mississippi River, is where residents of Illinois and Missouri gather supplies for the day when they head out on their next big adventure. .

What was once a small tackle shop is now a playground for outdoor enthusiasts of all types. Bluff City Outdoors owners Mark and Felecia McMurray have continued to expand the footprint over the past year by building an addition to the existing store, creating the first and only archery range seen in the region for many years. Not only does the new facility bring archery back to Alton, but it does so with the latest products and technology.

Bluff City Outdoors’ new bow shop is an authorized stockist of Hoyt, Mathews and Ten Point brands. The range itself includes a Techno Hunt video system, a range of 3D targets and even a range of paper targets for the traditionalists. There are limited targets available for crossbows. The archery department will be headed by Jeff Dickinson, who was Town Hall Archery’s first bow technician before it closed last January. Jeff has 14 years of experience in bow and crossbow tuning and repair and is considered by many to be one of the best bow technicians in the greater St. Louis area.

Construction of the new addition to house the archery range began last November and was recently completed. The lineup has been officially open for two weeks and leagues are starting to form. “We form 2 and 4 person leagues for Techno Hunt and 3D target ranges,” McMurray said.

The company also plans to host open 3D target events. Information on these leagues can be found by following the Bluff City Outdoors Facebook page.

McMurray went on to say, “We believe we have created the best archery center in the St. Louis area. We have a state of the art Techno Hunt system and a configurable range of up to 40 meters. It’s another step on our path to creating the best outdoor store in the area.

A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for September 17e. The public is invited to stop at any time and discover the new installation.
