Archery World Cup: Indian recurve teams bow out

India had a disappointing day at the Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Antalya, Turkey on Thursday.

India’s top-ranked recurve men’s team of Tarundeep Rai, Sachin Gupta and Jayanta Talukdar earned the first-round bye and beat Croatia 6-2 before losing to Ukraine 5 -1 in the quarter-finals. The fourth-seeded women’s team of Ridhi, Ankita Bhakat and Simranjeet Kaur earned a bye and beat the United States 6-0 before being beaten by Italy 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

Rajat Chauhan beat Yu Ping Pan of Chinese Taipei 142-139, Jozef Bosansky of Slovakia 148-145 and Emircan Haney of Turney 148-143. He lost to Jean Philippe Boulch of France 149-146 in the compound men’s individual quarterfinals.

Abhishek Verma and Aman Saini lost to Frenchmen Quentin Baraer (1-46-146 (10-9)) and Boulch (150-145) in the second round. Mohan Bhardwaj was shown to the gate by American Sawyer Sullivan 147-144 in the first round.

Priya Gurjar, who beat Adel Zhexenbinova of Kazakhstan 145-141, Meeri-Marita Paas of Estonia 140-140 (10*-10) and Mariya Shkolna of Luxembourg 143-140, was ousted by Yi-Hsuan Chen of Chinese Taipei 143-136 in the compound women’s individual quarter-finals.

Muskan Kirar, Avneet Kaur and Raginee Marko lost respectively to Turkey’s Ayse Bera Suzer 146-141, Slovakia’s Toja Ellison 144-144 (10-9) and Turkey’s Yesim Bpstan 146-142 in the second round.
